CareersAt Lacombe Web Design

There is no job posted here today, and it would be dishonest to dress this page up as though there were. It is worth reading anyway if you would want the first call when that changes.

What Would Matter Here

  • You can write plainly. Most of this work is explaining a business to strangers in fewer words than the owner would use. That is a writing skill before it is a design one.
  • You can talk to an owner. You will be sitting across from someone who runs a shop or a crew and does not care about your tooling. Explaining a recommendation in their language is the job, not a soft skill on top of it.
  • You finish things. A small studio has nowhere to hide an unfinished task. Doing what you said by when you said it counts for more here than any line on a CV.
  • You will say when something is wrong. Including when it is our own work, and including to a client who would rather not hear it. Quietly shipping something you know is weak is the one habit that does not survive here.
  • You report the number that happened. Campaigns underperform. Nobody here is asked to present that as a success, and anyone who does it unprompted is a problem.

Experience in web design, writing or search marketing helps. If you have the temperament and not yet the experience, say so — that is a training problem, and training problems are solvable.

A closed laptop, a green notebook and a cup of coffee on a sunlit wooden desk.

What Would Get Hired First

Nothing is open. These are the roles the studio would grow into, in roughly the order it would need them. Introduce yourself now and you are the first call rather than one of forty applications later.

Web Designer

Design and build small-business websites end to end, from working out the page structure through to launch.

Qualifications

  • Responsive sites you can show us and talk through
  • A real grip on layout, typography and reading order
  • Able to explain why a design decision was made
  • Comfortable in a room with a small-business owner

Benefits

  • No layers between you and the person deciding
  • A wide mix of local businesses rather than one account
  • Real influence over how the work is delivered
  • Flexibility about where and when the work happens

SEO & Digital Marketing Specialist

Plan and run practical search and marketing work for local businesses, and report on it honestly.

Qualifications

  • Understands search intent, not just keyword volume
  • Can research a trade you knew nothing about last week
  • Writes clearly enough for a client to read directly
  • Interested in local businesses specifically

Benefits

  • Hands on real businesses from the first week
  • Room to grow into broader strategy work
  • Close collaboration rather than a briefing queue
  • Work measured against enquiries, not impressions

Content & Brand Strategist

Help owners work out what they actually stand for, then get it into words a customer understands quickly.

Qualifications

  • Strong writing and, more importantly, strong editing
  • Can turn a rambling explanation into three clear sentences
  • Interested in why people choose one business over another
  • Genuinely detail-obsessed about copy

Benefits

  • Work across trades, retail, agriculture and services
  • Direct influence on what the client sees
  • A varied portfolio built quickly
  • Nobody rewriting your work without telling you why

Junior Web & Marketing Assistant

Support site updates, content preparation and research while learning the craft properly rather than in fragments.

Qualifications

  • Genuinely wants to learn this, specifically
  • Writes clearly in email
  • Basic familiarity with how websites work
  • Organised enough to be trusted with a deadline

Benefits

  • Mentorship directly from the founder, not a rota
  • Exposure to design, content and search together
  • Varied project work from the start
  • A supportive place to be new

How to Introduce Yourself

Email hello@lacombewebdesign.ca with "Careers" and the role in the subject line. Include:

  • A few sentences on the kind of work you have done
  • Your CV, or just a list of previous jobs and dates
  • Links to anything you are proud of, if you have them
  • A phone number and the best time to reach you

Every introduction gets read by the person who would hire you. If there is a fit, expect a short call first, then a longer conversation walking through a real project together — so you can see how the work actually runs before either of us commits to anything.

Send it even though nothing is posted. That is precisely when it is worth sending: applications are kept, and the people who introduced themselves early are the ones contacted first when a spot opens.

Lacombe Web Design considers all applicants without regard to race, colour, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or any other characteristic protected by law.

Prefer to talk? Call 587-802-2887.

Not Hiring Your Role Today?

Send your details anyway. Applications are kept on file, and whoever introduced themselves first gets the first call.
